Permit Availability and Pricing

Both sectors share the same official Uganda Wildlife Authority permit price of USD 800 per person for non-East African residents (as of 2026). The Gorilla Habituation Experience in Rushaga costs USD 1,500 per person. Permit availability differs between sectors — Buhoma, being the most famous, books up fastest and requires advance reservations, sometimes 6–12 months ahead during peak season. Rushaga typically has slightly better availability given its higher number of gorilla groups and permits.
